    Competitive Bidding Workshop Series

    Fridays: August 28, September 11, September 25 & October 2
    1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

    Take your competitive bidding to the next level with this four-session workshop series led by Keith Thompson. Based on Competitive Bidding by Mike Lawrence, this series is designed for advancing players who want to make more confident decisions when the auction becomes competitive.

    Each session begins with a 20-minute instructional overview, followed by supervised play with coaching, hand review, and discussion. Participants will receive take-home summaries of key learning tips to reinforce the concepts covered in class. A make-up session will be offered if needed.

    Course Topics:

    • Lesson 1: Bidding After an Opponent's Takeout Double
    • Lesson 2: Weak Two Bids & Preempts
    • Lesson 3: The Splinter Bid
    • Lesson 4: Passed Hand Bidding

    This workshop is ideal for advancing players looking to strengthen their competitive bidding, improve partnership communication, and gain confidence in competitive auctions.

    Convention Card & Partnership Communication Series with Steve Gaynor

    Thursdays: September 3, 17 & 24, October 1

    Strengthen your partnership communication and improve your bidding with this four-session bridge series led by Steve Gaynor. Designed for players with bridge experience, this interactive course explores how the convention card serves as the foundation for partnership agreements, bidding decisions, and successful communication at the table.

    Each session begins with a 30-minute lesson focused on a specific area of the convention card, followed by 60 minutes of supervised play. Steve will provide coaching, analyze bidding sequences, and demonstrate how partnership agreements influence reaching the best contract.

    • Lesson 1: General System Agreements & Opening Suit Bids
    • Lesson 2: Strong Opening Bids (1NT, 2C, etc.)

    Ready to learn bridge? Join us for an 8-session beginner-friendly class at the Plymouth Community Center. This relaxed, social series is perfect for those who are completely new to bridge or anyone looking for a refresher.

    Learn the fundamentals of bidding and play while enjoying a welcoming environment where you can ask questions, practice new skills, and connect with other players. Bridge is a great way to sharpen strategy, exercise memory, and have fun with others.

    No previous bridge experience is necessary. A make-up lesson will be offered for anyone who misses a class.

    Ladawna will share an update on the Foundation’s initiatives, including an exciting project that could introduce bridge to an entirely new audience—a feature film centered around the game of bridge. She will discuss the vision for the film, current development, potential casting, and the opportunity to bring new players into the bridge community.

    A portion of every registration fee will be donated to the ACBL Educational Foundation, with appropriate tax documentation provided.
